Villa Acero Rosso A is a beautiful apartment of approximately
150 square meters (approximately 1,615 square feet) which can accommodate up to
10 guests. The apartment boasts a glorious view of Lake Como and of the
valley below. It has a private outdoor space, where you will enjoy sun and
privacy, as well as a large, shared garden with an enthralling view of the
lake. The apartment is located on the slope of the promontory of
Bellagio, approximately 2 km (one mile) from the center of Bellagio.
The apartment has one double bedroom, two triple bedrooms (which can be set
up with a double bed and a single bed or with three single beds, as requested),
two bathrooms, a large and extremely well-equipped kitchen, and a living room
with a divan bed that sleeps two guests and a precious small terrace where you
will enjoy many moments of relax, the best view of the lake and, possibly, quite
a few glasses of good wine.
The place
Villa Acero Rosso is a lovely two-storey house, located on the slopes of the
promontory of Bellagio, a 20-minute walk to the center of town and to the
ferries. It has been carefully restored by its owners, who reside on the
premises and will be discreetly available to assist you, if requested, without
invading your privacy.
Near the house, at approximately 800 meters (half a mile), you will find a
few good restaurants, as well as the stop for the bus that goes to Bellagio and
to Lecco. A grocery store is located in the same area, 800 meters (half a
mile) from the villa as well. Guests of Villa Acero Rosso enjoy a discount
when using the facilities of the nearby Bellagio Sporting Club, a 10 minute walk
(approximately one kilometer, 0.6 miles) from the villa, along the
characteristic paths that cross the countryside. At the Sporting Club you
will find a swimming pool, tennis courts, and an exclusive restaurant as well.
You will be able to reach Villa Acero Rosso by bus or by car. As the bus stop
is approximately 800 meters from the house (half a mile) and taxi service is not
always readily available, we recommend having a car to tour the area. However,
once you are at the villa you will find that, if you like walking and are not
put off by steep uphills, using the buses and the ferries you will be able to
reach the many interesting lakeside villages, as well as the towns of Como and
Lecco, and their train stations. Private boat trips on the lake can be arranged
as well. If you have a car, you will be able to park it at the villa.
Villa Acero Rosso is divided into three apartments, located on the
ground floor and on the first floor. One of the ground floor apartments is
occupied by the owners. They are a lovely Italian family who, upon your arrival,
will welcome you and will be happy to point you to the most interesting sights
and attractions of the area. They will have the greatest respect for your
privacy, and you will rarely see them around, unless you go looking for them
yourself. The other two apartments, A and B, are available for rental.
Guests of both apartment A and B will have a private area of the garden reserved
for their own use. In addition to that, there is also a large and
well-kept lawn which is shared, and which offers an amazing view of the hills,
the valley, and the lake. This area is equipped with tables, chairs and a ping
pong table.
If you are bringing a Wi-Fi device you will be able to link to the Wi-Fi
broadband Internet connection from your apartment or from the garden.
The apartment
Villa Acero Rosso A covers the whole first floor of the building. It is
a spacious and luminous apartment, well-furnished and decorated, and with a
splendid view of the lake and of the hills from the apartment itself. You
will reach it from the entrance gate of the villa walking along a path in the
garden that takes you from the ground level to the first level. You have
the option of either climbing one flight of stairs or just walking slightly
uphill. Once you reach the first level, you will immediately find a nice
outdoor area, paved in stone, reserved for your own use and equipped with a
table with umbrella and chairs, right by the apartment. Here you will also
find a barbecue.
To enter the apartment you step up to a patio, where there are both the glass
doors to the living room and to the kitchen. You can enter the house from
both doors (the kitchen and the living room are also connected internally).
As you enter the living room, you will be immediately struck by the large glass
door right in front of you, which frames an exciting and lovely view of the lake
and of the surrounding area, with the village of Varenna just ahead of you, on
the other side of the lake. No doubts, first thing you will walk straight
to the glass door, to find that it leads out to a covered terrace equipped with
a few deck chairs -- it will be your favourite place to relax and drink in the
views.
The living room is large and equipped with a dining table with chairs, a satellite
television with DVD player and two sofas, one of which opens up into a double bed for two
guests. An arch connects the living room to the kitchen, which has its own
dining table with chairs. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped, with a
four-burner cooker, refrigerator with freezer, oven, microwave over, washing
machine and many small appliances.
From the living room a long corridor will take you to the bedrooms and to the
bathrooms. There are three bedrooms, and each one has a window which
offers a side-view of the lake and of the countryside. One of the bedrooms
has a double bed, the other two can be set up as doubles or as twins. An
additional bed can be placed in each of the latter two rooms, effectively making
them triple rooms.
At the end of the corridor you will find the two bathrooms. One has a
bath tub, a washing machine, and a window with the same gorgeous view that you
enjoy from the living room. The owners have placed the mirror of the
bathroom exactly in front of the window, so that if you open it up and watch
yourself in the mirror you can enjoy that lovely reflection while you make your
toilet. The other bathroom is actually split in two rooms, which makes it
extremely useful: in one room you will find a toilet with a bidet, in the other
room the washbasin with an enclosed shower.
Nearby tourist attractions
While staying at Villa Acero Rosso you will be in very quiet location, which
is an excellent base for day trips throughout the area. Having the owners
readily available, if you wish, will help you make the best out of your time on
Lake Como.
You will be approximately 90 minutes from Lugano, Bergamo and Milan, and
roughly 30 minutes from Como and Lecco. The popular attraction of Villa
Carlotta, in Tremezzo, will be an easy trip by ferry across the lake, and you
will be able to walk to the botanic gardens of Villa Melzi, only roughly one
mile away (1.5 km).
In the area you will find a wide range of tourist services: fitness center,
squash facilities, and mountain bike rentals, a sports club with swimming pool,
tennis court, sauna, and gym. Water skiing is also available, and there is an
18-hole golf course 30 minutes away. From Chevrio (a 15-minute drive) you will
be able to enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Como. Several cafes and restaurants,
as well as shops, are available in the center of Bellagio (a 5-minute drive or a
20-minute walk).
Bellagio is the most well-known resort of the area, often referred as "the
pearl of the lake". It lies at the tip of the headland that splits Lake Como's two
branches (the west branch toward the town of Como, and the east branch toward
Lecco). Its charm fascinated, in past centuries, artists and poets, such as
Pliny the Younger, who once owned what is now Villa Serbelloni, and then Taine,
Longfellow, Twain, Stendhal, Flaubert, Faure, Liszt. The original charm is still
intact, and makes of this destination a must-see for travellers to Lake Como.
The closest airports are Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate and Bergamo Orio al
Serio.
