Villa Gentile is an authentic seventeenth-century countryside house. It is surrounded by a land rich in cultivations of vineyards and olive groves. The house is actually part of a farm where the Chianti wine and extra-virgin olive oil are produced. The villa, from above, dominates the vast valley where Florence lies.
Villa Gentile is a rustic house in stone and bricks which has kept itself intact through years of history, from past times up to our present moment. And it has not been restored to tourist purposes either. Even its interior and the division of rooms still maintain the original distribution. Original and age-old are also the beautiful floor in terracotta brick tiles and the vaulted ceilings with brick roof tiles and wooden joists.
On the ground floor of the villa there are the wine cellars, where the owners of the house still keep the wine in wooden barrels and the olive oil in old terracotta jars. A large room on the ground floor, which features brick vaults and is divided by arches, once being used as a place to fix agricultural tools, has been turned into a pleasant covered living area to the guests of the villa. The room is decorated with age-old rural tools and furnished with a couch, armchairs, a table with chairs, and a barbecue. This room leads to the garden and the swimming-pool. The residential area of the villa is on the first floor. All the rooms are spacious and furnished with family antique furniture.
The owners live in a villa right next door, and they are available to assist you in case you need with all their discretion.
The above-ground swimming pool is 5 meters (16 feet) large by 9 meters (30 feet) long, 1.35 meters (4.4 feet) deep. The area is equipped with a table, chairs, sun umbrellas, deck chairs and sun loungers. From the swimming pool you will enjoy a pleasant view of the Chianti hills and of the surrounding countryside. The pool is open from the beginning of May until mid-October.
The living room is paved with ancient terracotta tiles. The furnishings are warm and welcoming. The furnishings include two armchairs and a divan that unfolds into a double bed. There is a big and age-old fireplace. In this room you will find a satellite television (local channels). The room has a window.
You will be able to enter the kitchen from the living room. It is equipped with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with freezer, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, an Italian-style coffee-maker, an American-style coffee-maker (bring your filters!) and a kettle. The dining table can accommodate six guests. The kitchen has a window.
The first bedroom has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/63 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). An additional twin bed (80 cm/32 inches) is available (if requested in advance) to make it a triple room (without exceeding the maximum occupancy of eight guests). The room has a window with a view of the countryside.
The second bedroom has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/63 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). An additional twin bed (80 cm/32 inches) is available (if requested in advance) to make it a triple room (without exceeding the maximum occupancy of eight guests). The room has a window with a view of the countryside.
The second bathroom is equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a shower.
You will be able to reach the laundry room from the living room. Here you will find a washing machine, an iron and an ironing board at your disposal.
