Appartamento Re Gioacchino is a magnificent 120-square-meter (about 1,292 square feet) apartment which sleeps five people. It is only 200 meters (about 656 feet) from the sea, and it features two spacious terraces overlooking Positano and the sea. The apartment is actually inside a sumptuous eighteenth-century historical palace in the center of Positano, in the pedestrian area. It has also access to a shared garden.

Appartamento Re Gioacchino has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a dining-room, a living-room with a fireplace and a divan bed for one person, two bathrooms with shower, a kitchen, and a laundry-room with a WC.

The apartment is on the first floor, and you reach it after climbing a beautiful original 20-step staircase dating back to the eighteenth-century.

As soon as you go through the entrance door, you will feel privileged to spend your vacation in a place rich in history and beauty. The apartment is part of a building which used to be the vacation home of the king of Naples in the eighteenth century.

The apartment consists of four big rooms which still preserve high ceilings embellished by a line of frescos and also magnificent doors where you can admire the rich original decoration. The apartment has been carefully renovated in a functional way, and along with the fascination of the old, you will also find all the comfort of a modern apartment.

The living-room is formed by two rooms placed one next to the other. In the first you will find two couches and armchairs around an age-old fireplace. One of the couches is a divan bed for one person. In the second room you will see a large round dining table.

The living-room communicates both with the twin bedroom and the corridor, where you will find the double bedroom and a wide bathroom with shower.

In the twin bedroom, both beds are placed on a mezzanine which features the same height of a regular room. From the mezzanine you can reach the bathroom with shower. The lower area in the bedroom is furnished with a couch, and there is also a patio door leading to the terrace.

The double bedroom is spacious and bright. It has a gracious balcony and a patio door leading to the terrace overlooking the sea.

The kitchen is a large room where you will find a table with chairs. It is equipped with a four-burner stove, an oven, a big fridge with freezer, and a dish-washer. Next to the kitchen there is a laundry room with a WC.

The apartment is not suitable for small children as the parapet of the mezzanine has a large opening which is dangerous for kids who are under eight years old.

Furnishings of the apartment are elegant and well-cared for, with modern furniture and also old and authentic pieces belonging to the building.

At Appartamento Re Gioacchino you will find two spacious terraces. The first lies in front of the whole apartment and ends in a square-shaped overlook facing the surrounding scenery and the sea. Before your eyes you will have a 180º view of Positano and the sea. Especially enthralling is the view of the cathedral of Positano, with the sea as background, its dome covered in shiny majolica tiles, and its elegant bell-tower.

Below the terrace lies the wide and elegant condominial garden of the building, where all the guests of Appartamento Re Gioacchino will have free access to. Along with the terrace, the garden will also be a favorite place to relax outdoors!

On the terrace you will find a wrought-iron gazebo covered by a red bougainvillea. Under the gazebo you will find a sitting-place consisting of wrought-iron armchairs with little tables and white cushions. The sun-drenched area of the terrace is furnished with sun loungers. You can reach this terrace from all the rooms of the apartment.

The second and equally wide terrace of Appartamento Re Gioacchino overlooks the picturesque main pedestrian street of Positano, a garden of citrus trees, the town, and the hills. You reach the second terrace from the living-room, and there you will find a table and chairs. It is a naturally fresh and shady place: you will find it perfect to have meals outdoors.

In one part of the garden below the apartment, there is an elegant outdoor restaurant, where you can have breakfast or dinner at tables discreetly lit by candle lights.

The building which houses Appartamento Re Gioacchino is the largest, most beautiful, and best-kept historical eighteenth-century building in Positano. You will be in the central pedestrian area of Positano, in the heart of all the tourist activities, strolling and shopping streets.

Although the building is not far from other houses, it is a bit isolated from them. In front of the building is a large garden rich in trees and green and enclosed by a high wall separating it from the street. You will be in the heart of the town while contemporarily living your vacation in a tranquil and elegant place which boasts fascination everywhere.

The beach is called Spiaggia Grande, which is the main beach in Positano and which gathers the whole hamlet around as a large amphitheatre. The beach is made of fine dark-grey volcanic sand.

While staying at Appartamento Re Gioacchino, you will be in the heart of the main tourist attractions of Positano. During summer, the beach houses an elegant and tranquil establishment. Along the shore there are several picturesque shops and famous bars and restaurants with tables placed outdoor.

It is quite convenient to rent boats or practice water sports, including scuba diving.

By strolling along the beach, you can reach a night club placed inside a grotto by the sea.

And do not miss, especially at night and with the moon above the sea, the chance of walking a little bit further and reaching the Fornillo beach. All you have to do is take a footpath through rocky walls by the sea and feast your eyes on the enthralling panorama which unfolds before you at every step you take.

Few feet away from the apartment is the old Cathedral and the crisscross pedestrian alleyways full of colorful shops, where you can stroll, go shopping for Moda Positano (Positano Fashion), or even rest in characteristic places while listening to good Neapolitan songs with a drink or Italian ice-cream in hands.

However, don’t hesitate to wander through less crowded little streets and stairways: you will unveil fascinating hidden angles offered by a place caressed by the good fortune of boasting beauty everywhere you look around.

It will be hard to escape from the magical atmosphere surrounding the place, and undoubtedly, once you have left… you will feel like coming back.

200 meters (about 656 feet) from the apartment is the port from where ferries leave to Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi, Naples, and Salerno, and mini-cruises leave to the islands of the Gulf of Naples.

From Appartamento Re Gioacchino, you can easily reach the main bus stop of buses which connect all the towns along the coast to Naples, Pompeii, Amalfi, Ravello, Salerno, and Paestum.

For trekking enthusiasts, the area boasts trails which are famous for their extraordinary beauty, just as the ‘Sentiero degli Dei’ (Path of the Gods).

You don’t need a car during your stay at Appartamento Re Gioacchino, but in case you have one, there are pay-parking lots about 50 meters (approximately 164 feet) from the apartment.

A 25% deposit is paid at the time of booking. The balance is due 60 days prior to arrival at the property.

Upon arrival at Appartamento Re Gioacchino the property manager will ask you to pay a security deposit of EUR 200, payable in cash. The security deposit will be returned to you prior to your departure less any charges for accidental damages to the property.
