It can sleep six people. It is equipped with air-conditioning, and it is 250 meters (about 820 feet) away from the sea and the beach. The house is located in Praiano, which is halfway between Amalfi and Positano, being about 7 km (about 4.3 miles) away from both towns. The house is 23 km (about 14 miles) away from Sorrento and 12 km (about 7.5 miles) away from Ravello. There is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a bathroom with a bathtub and shower taps, a living-room with a double divan bed, a kitchen, and a second bathroom with a sink and a toilet. The place Villa Penelope is situated in an area of the historical center of Praiano called Vettica, which stretches on a sloping land which goes from down the state road until a prominent area overlooking the sea. The little town consists of typically small white houses with vaulted ceilings which are linked one to the other through vertical narrow stairways and horizontal narrow streets run only on foot. You will enjoy strolling through such little streets even though they feature several stairways: the air is clean and lemon-scented, there is no noise, and your eyes will be feasted on enthralling views of the coast and the sea here and there. Every house features a small garden or courtyard filled with flowers. Amidst the houses there are small areas of land cultivated with vegetables which are lushly rich all year round in citrus fruits and other plants resulting in a place beautiful to be seen just as regular gardens. The area boasts the authentic inhabitants of Praiano and not crowds of tourists. Shops for tourists, bars and restaurants are seen by the coastal state road. In order to arrive at the villa from the state road, you will have to climb down about 15 steps and reach the churchyard of a splendid baroque church of the Seventeenth-century dedicated to San Gennaro. The churchyard is a large square which stretches out towards the sea. It is a place where you can enjoy an enthralling view of the seascape and the Amalfi Coast, which comprises the view of Positano and Capri. From the churchyard, you go along a pedestrian little street and then a path of about 300 meters (984 feet) to arrive at the villa. Such pathway consists of a slight slope and some steps only. In order to reach the villa, you can also take another way which is a bit shorter but which means climbing a long stairway of many steps. It is a typical ‘scalinatella’ (narrow stairway) of the Amalfi Coast. We strongly advise you to face the second pathway only if you’re fit or trying to be so! The beach Villa Penelope is close to a fascinating rocky beach called La Gavitella. Such beach lies at the foot of a deep and narrow rocky inlet covered in thick vegetation even at almost sea level. In order to arrive there, all you will have to do is walk a pathway which begins right next to Villa Penelope. The path consists of 350 steps dug in zig-zag patterns into the rock. Once by the sea, near the gravel beach, you will find some concrete platforms which are ideal for sunbathing and diving into the water. During spring/summer, you will find an establishment with a bar and a restaurant at the beach. You will also a find a ferry service with small boats which take you to the sandy beaches of Praia and Positano. The service is offered by the manager of the beach establishments, and it is also charge-free for clients of the establishment and the restaurant. Outstanding to be seen and visited for a swim is the “Fontana dell’Altare”, a natural swimming-pool formed by seawater trapped in a grotto near the beach of the Gavitella. Other famous beaches nearby are La Praia, about 2 km (about 1.2 miles) away, and the beach of Positano, about 5 km (about 3 miles) away. You will find beach establishments in these beaches plus a wide selection of bars, enthralling restaurants and rendezvous which are open even during the evenings. The house The entrance to Villa Penelope is an old masonry arch through which you will enter a small but gracious courtyard. In the courtyard you will find a staircase of about ten steps which will lead you to the white terrace which has welcomed you to the house. The terrace overlooks the seascape, and you will find a table with chairs, some deck chairs, and an umbrella there. From the terrace you will enter the living-area of the house, consisting of a bright living-room with a table, chairs, a TV, and a divan bed. Next to the living-room you will find a kitchen and a bathroom equipped only with a sink and a toilet. The kitchen is spacious and equipped with a five-burner stove, an oven, a washing machine, and a fridge with a freezer. A staircase will lead you to the upper floor, where you will find two bedrooms and a bathroom. The double bedroom has a spacious balcony which has a wide view of the sea and the coast. You will find it pleasant to wake up in the morning and see only the sky and the sea before your eyes... The second bedroom is a twin room overlooking the valley. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub with shower taps. The floor is glossy terracotta, and the furnishings are pleasant and comfortable. The house is equipped with air-conditioning.
