Holiday Home Description

Villa Gregorio A is a gracious 70 square-meter (about 754 square feet) house with a private garden which is part of an age-old countryside villa on a hill surrounded by verdant landscape. The house sleeps five people and has a shared swimming-pool. It is 55 km (about 34 miles) away from Rome.

You will be only 2 km (about 1.2 miles) away from the medieval hamlet of Capranica, amidst hills covered in woods of majestic chestnut and oak trees. The house is equipped with parking space and winter heating.

There is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a bathroom with shower, another bathroom with bathtub and shower, a living-room with a divan bed for one guest, and a kitchenette.

The place

Villa Gregorio is a beautiful countryside house in stone dating back to the Nineteenth century. It is situated on the top of a woody hill and surrounded by hectare of land cultivated with olive groves. You will be in an area where nature is still kept intact. You will be close to the Parco Naturale del Lago di Vico (Natural Park of the Lake Vico), famous for being a bird watching spot. You will be able to go for walks amidst nature, ride a bike or even a horse. You will be away from crowded tourist places, but close to Rome and not far from Umbria and Tuscany.

You will be close to Tarquinia, heart of the ancient reign of the Etruscans, fine civilization who ruled the Mediterranean before the arrival of the Romans. Don’t miss the chance of visiting the Museo Archeologico di Tarquinia (Archaeological Museum of Tarquinia)!

Besides the shared green areas and swimming-pool, at Villa Gregorio you will also have a room with large windows overlooking the garden at your disposal. Right in the middle of the wall there is a large fireplace with armchairs around it. You will also find tables, chairs, and an angle where you can watch TV, in this case, with satellite dish.

The swimming pool and the garden

At Villa Gregorio you will find three vacation apartments, each with its own private area in the garden. To be shared is the swimming pool and the large park which surrounds the villa.

You and your kids will have a huge area of fenced lawn at your disposal. It is a place where olive and fruits trees are cultivated. The air is clean and fruit-tree scented. No noises to disturb you. It is the perfect spot to relax while in contact with uncontaminated nature.

In the garden, all the guests of the villa will have at their disposal: a bocce (bowl game) court and a small area where there is a wood-fired oven for bread and pizza and a barbecue as well. Next to this area you will find two long wooden tables placed in the shade of a grapevine pergola...

The swimming pool, 12 x 6 meters (about 39 x 20 feet) large, is situated in a fenced area apart from the garden and the apartments. It is placed in the middle of a green lawn surrounded by a sloped land where trees and bushes of the “Mediterranean vegetation” are seen. Along the nice and amidst-green pathway which leads to the swimming-pool, you will find a small spring of limpid waters which gush out from a rock.

On the edge of the swimming-pool, you will find a sun-drenched area furnished with umbrellas and sun loungers. There is also a locker room and a bathroom at your disposal.

The swimming-pool is open from half May to the end of September.

The house

Villa Gregorio A is an apartment on the ground floor of the house. Next to the entrance you will find a patio and an 80-square-meter (about 861 square feet) garden furnished with a table, chairs, and umbrellas. From the patio you enter the living-room. You will also find a dining area with a fireplace, a TV, and a divan bed for one guest. The kitchen is equipped with a four-burner stove, a fridge, an oven, and a dishwasher.

From the living-room you can reach the two bedrooms. One is a double room, while the other is a twin bedroom and has a bathroom inside equipped with a bathtub and a shower. There is also a second bathroom, which is equipped with a shower.

The house is furnished according to the simple, cozy and warm countryside style of Tuscany. It features red terracotta floor and typical ceiling with wooden joists which has been carefully restored.

At Villa Gregorio, you will have a laundry room, parking space, and winter heating at your disposal.

2 km (about 1.2 miles) away from the house, you will find the nearest shops and restaurants. And always 2 km (about 1.2 miles) away, in Capranica, you will find a convenient and economical bus to Rome which leaves every half an hour.

Nearby tourist attractions

At Villa Gregorio, you will be in the province of Viterbo, north of Rome and on the border with Umbria and Tuscany. Rome is easily reached either by car, train, or bus. During your stay at the villa, you can arrange for transfer service to the railway or bus station.

Don´t miss the chance of visiting Viterbo and its famous Palazzo dei Papi (Palace of the Popes), built in the Middle Ages.

In the surroundings, you will find the small and romantic Lago di Vico (Lake of Vico), natural reserve, and the Lago di Bolsena (Lake of Bolsena). In the nearby Lago di Vico, one can practice windsurf and rowing. To be visited is also Bolsena, with its Etruscan-Roman ruins and its enthralling lake. Don’t miss Orvieto and its incredible Duomo with golden mosaics ... in this part of Italy, just as everywhere else in such blessed country, there are so many beautiful things to visit that one can be left with a feeling of awe ... our advice is to visit places not in a hurry, and if there is any place which hasn’t been seen, leave it to your next trip back to Italy!

Nearest airports: Rome, Florence, Perugia, and Siena.
