Holiday Home Description

Villa Ester is a gracious 120-square-meter (about 1292 square feet) villa which sleeps five people. It has a terrace and a garden overlooking the sea. The villa is 5 km (about 3 miles) away from Positano and Sorrento.

There is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, two bathrooms with shower, a den with a divan bed, and a living-room with a kitchenette. All the rooms have a splendid view of the seascape and the Li Galli islands.

The place

Villa Ester is built on the edge of a crag by the sea. It is a white little house surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation. It seems to be suspended between the blue of the sea and the sky.

When you arrive on the terrace, you will have the sea, the sky, and the sun before you. And it is right in front of you, in the sea, that your eyes will meet the famous small islands called Li Galli. Mythology tells us that the islands were inhabited by Sirens who tried to entice Ulysses and keep him in the surroundings.

It won't be hard to believe such myth as you will be able to admire with your own eyes the extraordinary beauty of this coast. The sea surrounding the Li Galli islands is a protected Marine Area, destination of scuba-divers due to its beautiful seabed.

At Villa Ester nothing but the green of a short expanse of coast will be placed between you and the sea. The area consists of a steep cliff where small pull-off areas, adorned by olive trees which gradually decrease in size as closer to the sea, have been incredibly built here and there. The last stretch of land is actually a rocky wall which seems to plunge vertically into the sea.

On the terrace and by looking towards the horizon, you will see the island of Capri and its famous Faraglioni (stacks – vertical columns of rock in the sea near the coast) on one side and the picturesque coast where the towns of Positano and Praiano are nestled.

At Villa Ester, you will have the sea "at your door". You will be able to feel the scent of the sea and hear it, but not go for a swim in such area. The closest beach is only three km (about 1.9 miles) away, and 1 km (0.6 mile) away is the public swimming pool.

The house

Villa Ester is built at the end of a private little road which leads to three or four houses spread out on the green of the surroundings. Once you have parked your car, you will have to walk for a few feet on a pathway and descend a 14-step staircase to reach the house.

In front of the entrance there is a small paved garden embellished by flowers.

The house, built as if dug in the rock, has two floors. On the upper floor, you will find the living area, which consists of the living-room, the kitchenette, a bathroom, and a large terrace, 70 square meters (753.5 square feet) large. A staircase leads to the lower floor, where you will find the two bedrooms, the den with the divan bed, and the second bathroom. In front of the bedrooms, there is also a long terrace overlooking the sea which is shaded by an olive tree. The den is a passageway to the bedrooms. There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom. Both have a window which overlooks the seascape.

In the living-room, you will find a fire place, two divan couches, an armchair, a big dining table, a television, a VCR, and a piano. The piano may be used by those who know how to play it and only upon request.

The kitchenette is separated from the living-room by a masonry wall. It is equipped with a four-burner stove, an oven, and a fridge with a freezer.

The furnishings are complete and cozy.

The terrace

From the living-room, you can descend to a large terrace with a view to the sea. The terrace is shaded by a pergola under which you will find a table with chairs and sun loungers.

The terrace will be your favorite place to have breakfast outdoors during the fresh early hours of the morning: surrounded by peacefulness and tranquility, you will be able to feel the perfume of the flowers and Mediterranean herbs which rise in the air as the sun warms the earth and the blue of the sea and the sky becomes even more vivid and dazzling.

The terrace will also be your favorite place to have dinner outdoors, under the starry sky and its moon reflecting in the sea.

Nearby tourist attractions

By staying at Villa Ester, you will be in a tranquil place, not full of tourists, and in a convenient position to visit both the Sorrento Coast and the Amalfi Coast. The nearest place is the small village of Colli di Fontanelle, 1 km (0.6 mile) away, where you will find shops, bars, and restaurants.

Both Sorrento and Positano are 5 km (about 3 miles) away.

You will be able to experience the intense tourist life of the coast with its meeting places, shopping streets, and restaurants.

From the port of Positano and Sorrento, ferries, hydrofoils, and mini-cruises leave day and night to the coast, the islands of Capri and Ischia, Amalfi, Naples, and the Coast of Cilento. The bus stop of the SITA bus which connects Colli di Fontanelle with Positano and Sorrento is only 1 km (about 0.6 mile) away. The SITA bus company connects all the towns of the coast, and you can easily visit the archaeological sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum, or even the Reggia (Royal Palace) of Caserta.

If you are a mountain-trekking enthusiast, this area will your paradise: on the narrow ridge which divides the Amalfi Coast from the Sorrento Coast, signs indicate trails of breathtaking scenery over the mountains and by the sea. The most famous for its extraordinary beauty is called "Sentiero degli Dei" or Path of the Gods.

The nearest airport is the one in Naples, about 60 km (about 37.3 miles) away.
