The Place
Villa Dorotea is an age-old villa situated in the heart of the historical center
of Capri. You can reach the house on foot from the famous Piazzetta if taking
the characteristic pedestrian streets. You will arrive in front of a beautiful
wrought iron gate which opens to a long white colonnade supporting a wisteria
pergola. The colonnade leads you to the entrance of the villa through a garden
rich in trees and flowers. In the center of the garden, in the middle of a
beautiful green lawn, you will find a playground for kids which includes a
2x4-meter (6 x 13 feet) swimming-pool. In a secluded area, there is a gazebo
furnished with tables and chairs. The garden and its facilities are available to
all the guests of Villa Dorotea. Villa Dorotea consists of three apartments and
one studio apartment.
The house
You enter Villa Dorotea D by climbing a 28-step staircase from the garden. Once
upstairs, you will be on a large terrace which gives access to the house. One
part of the terrace, which has a mansory cover, is a real outdoor living-room.
It is furnished with long masonry benches with several yellow cushions, tables,
and also armchairs. This is the most panoramic area of the terrace as it
overlooks a large expanse of the island of Capri. The sea is hidden by the
greenery of nearby trees.
The opposite side of the terrace, next to the kitchen, displays a big gazebo.
There is a long table with chairs under it, what makes the place an ideal set
for outdoor meals. A large olive tree stands in the middle of the terrace. The
branches of the tree intertwine around two decorative white masonry arches. Look
around and all you will see will be vases with flowers and climbing plants.
You will stay in a beautiful and elegant place, filled with tranquillity and
serenity, and rich in light and fresh air. You will soon realize that you have
arrived in an authentic noble villa of Capri and that you have chosen the
perfect place to peacefully enjoy the magical atmosphere of the island.
The living-room of the house, reached from the terrace, is furnished with
couches and armchairs placed near a monumental fireplace. A large arch separates
this part of the living area from another with armchairs and couches arranged
around a second fireplace and an area featuring a dining table, which is placed
close to tall glass arched windows which will enable you to enjoy the colors of
the garden from inside.
The rooms, which feature high vaulted ceilings characteristic from houses in
Capri, are completely and finely furnished with antique furniture and objects.
A corridor leads to the sleeping area and the kitchen.
The first double bedroom is spacious and bright with its windows overlooking the
garden. The bedroom also leads to a den where you can connect to the internet,
and it has a bathroom with bathtub inside. In fact, no wall separates the room
from the bathroom, which means that the bathtub, the toilet seat, and the sink
are seen from the bed. The second double bedroom has a regular bathroom with
shower, inside but separated from walls. There is also a window with a view of
the garden. The twin bedroom is situated on mezzanine level and can be reached
from the corridor through a spiral staircase. The bedroom has a window and a
barrel vaulted ceiling with sloping sides. There are two single beds and a
bathroom with bathtub in the room.
The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped: a five-burner stove, an oven, a
fridge with freezer, and a dishwasher. There is also a table with chairs and a
patio door which leads to the area of the terrace which displays the gazebo and
the table for outdoor meals.
There is also a laundry-room available.
The Beaches
If you want to go to the beach, all you have to do is take the cable car in the
Piazzetta in Capri; you will arrive in Marina Grande only a few minutes later.
You can also reach the wonderful Faraglioni beach while pleasantly going for a
three-kilometer (1.8 mile) stroll. While walking, you can admire a panorama of
incomparable beauty.
Don’t miss a chance to discover small gravel beaches enclosed by the so many
rocks along the coast of the island. You will meet places which are like angles
of heaven with the green of the Mediterranean vegetation and the deep blue of
the sea…
Nearby tourist attractions
Once staying at Villa Dorotea, you will be located in a convenient place which
will enable you to visit several tourist attractions of Capri. You will be only
a few steps away from Piazzetta, which is the tourist heart of Capri. You will
also be able to take part in the lively vacation life of the place and choose
what cultural events, shops, outdoor bars and restaurants, and nightclubs to go
