Villino delle Orchidee is an ancient independent house of 70 square meters
(750 square feet), with a garden of 30 square meters (323 square feet), for two
persons, with an extraordinarily beautiful view of the sea.
It is centrally located in Positano, and you will be able to reach it by
descending 30 steps along a characteristic stairway that leads from the main
road towards the sea.
Once past the white stone wall and the ancient main door, which divide the
property from the alley, you will realize that you have reached a corner of
Paradise.
You will enter a tiny, delightful garden, with a tall orange tree in the
middle of it and a lemon tree pergola on one side. The shining leaves of these
citrus trees and the radiant corollas of the flowers that fill the flower beds
frame an enchanting view of the sea.
Almost vertically below you, you will see a small bay, close by a cape on
which stands an ancient medieval watchtower.
From this height, the water is transparent and you can see the bottom, and
the sea changes its colors, in shades of blue and green, until it becomes white
at its nearest point to the cliff and the small beach. A short distance away,
you will recognize the three humps of the small island of Li Galli, which seems
to float halfway between the blue sky and the even bluer sea.
Two lounges have been placed in the garden, among the flowers, and a table
for two will welcome you in the shade of the orange tree.
The air is perfumed, and the bloom of the nature all around conveys vitality
and cheerfulness.
You will be happy to be right there, with this charm under your eyes for the
moment, and very likely forever in your heart.
The house is just as charming as the place where it stands. It is an ancient
building with thick stone walls and high vaulted ceilings, which stays cool in
the summertime and warm in the wintertime. It has a nice bedroom with a double
bed , a large living room, a spacious bathroom and a kitchen.
In front of the rooms there is a veranda, from where you can enter the
garden, so that the rooms have a view of the garden as well.
The house has been decorated with care and love, and furnished with pieces
inlaid by hand, according to the local tradition, and with pieces hand-made by
local artisans.
In the living room you will find a sofa, armchairs and a
dining table. The bathroom has a bathtub with shower head. The kitchen is
equipped with a 4-burner gas stove, an oven, and a refrigerator with a freezer.
The veranda and the garden are furnished with a small table, chairs and lounges.
Shops and restaurants are at approximately 30 meters (30 yards). At 30 meters
(30 yards) you will also find the stop for the local bus, which connects the
area with the pedestrian center of Positano and with the stop where you can
board the bus that takes you to the other villages of the coast. From the
pedestrian center you can also reach the Spiagga Grande (the main beach) of
Positano.
While staying at Villino delle Orchidee you will not need a car.
You will be able to board ferries and mini-cruises to visit Capri, Ischia,
Amalfi, Sorrento and Naples at the docks of Positano.
If you enjoy hiking, from Villino delle Orchidee you will be also easily able
to reach the famous path that stretches at the top of the mounts of the coast of
Amalfi, among precipices and breathtaking views. For its extraordinary beauty,
the path is called "il sentiero degli dei": the path of the Gods.
