What guests of Villa dei Pini A sayMaria Hiles, Stockport, United Kingdom June 28, 2003 - Firstly, I would like to thank "Summer in Italy" for their service. My slight concerns of dealing with an unknown (to us) company over the internet have been wiped away by the prompt and friendly service received. The information provided was helpful and the directions and maps got us to our destination with no problems. I would have no hesitation in recommending the company. We were met by the friendly and helpful owner and found the apartment to be clean and spacious and good value for money. It was within walking distance of Santa Maria (though be warned of the hill coming back) and a good position for touring the area. The only slight downside was some road noise from the main road some 50 metres or so below the property. Though hidden by the trees and not in view, it could be heard from the terrace - Italian drivers do tend to be rather noisy, hooting horns at any excuse. We did get used to it and it was not a problem once inside the apartment. The area is lovely to explore, with good public beaches, nice resorts and villages and plenty of good places to eat. It's not spoiled or over touristy. We had good meals in Santa Maria, San Marco and in the lovely hill top Castellabate, with views of the sun setting over Capri in the distance. Allow twice as long as you might expect when driving anywhere, as the roads can be very winding and narrow in some places. Paestum is not to be missed and the Amalfi coast is possible, we drove as far as Ravello for a visit to the beautiful gardens at the villas there - but don't make our mistake of driving right through then centre of Salerno which was one big traffic jam and took us ages. At some point in the future we would like to explore the southern part of the Cilento and would certainly look for accommodation through "Summer in Italy". Ruut Sillanpää, Muurame, Finland June 14, 2003 - We liked Santa Maria very much and our vacation was grandiose :-)) The place was just what we think about it: quiet, unspoilt by tourism, normal Italian life style, beautiful town, clean sea and the beautiful nature..... Ideal conditions for a family holiday! Villa dei Pini was successful choice. Thank you very much for your help and information when I could not decide what kind of property to rent! It was very tidy and everything made our holiday more than the best! The owner was a very nice person. And could you imagine, we liked very much to climb up every day along the shortcut from the village to Villa dei Pini! It was a hard job, because we had always with us baby carts and almost every time groceries, too. Oh, and the terrace to our apartment was lovely and safe place for children. We have had many football games on the terrace with our 3-years old son...:-) It was so nice to "do business" with you. It was so easy and you were so kind and helpful to us and with your help our holiday was successful. I could, in good faith, recommend your company to all my friends in Finland. David Grimsrud, Olympic Valley, CA, United States April 12, 2003 - Our stay at Villa dei Pini A, was positive in every respect. It has a wonderful upper hill location with very nice views of the sea. There is a spacious deck, very workable kitchen and comfortable living & bedroom spaces. The owner met us in person and was most concerned that our needs be met. We enjoyed our stay there and found the village of Santa Maria di Castellabate.... charming.
Juliette Duff, Portsmouth, United Kingdom September 2, 2002 - Villa dei Pini apartments were lovely, very spacious and in excellent decorative order. We spent many starlit evenings on the large terrace just taking in the view and relaxing with a bottle of wine, and it was fantastic to awake in the morning and open the bedroom patio doors on to a view of the bay below. The shortcut from the back of the property to the local town was very useful. We loved the local town of Castellabate, very uncommercialised and authentic yet still full of life and thriving every evening, and with the beautiful beach at the end of the street you couldn't ask for more. Everyone we met was very helpful even though there was a bit of a language barrier (but every effort was made by the owner to overcome this, even in the event of a power cut!!). Driving in Italy takes a bit of getting used to!!! Although the route was very straightforward, and we were soon overtaking like locals!!! We enjoyed our time in Italy very much, and thank you for your assistance. Adrian Scott, London, United Kingdom August 8, 2002 - We stayed at the Villa dei Pini in July 2002. The apartment was excellent and had everything we needed - including a full oven and grill which is unusual in a holiday rental. The large, shady balcony was perfect for the long, hot afternoons. The owners were friendly and very helpful, as were the Summer in Italy staff. Santa Maria is a lively town with plenty of restaurants and the beaches are clean with space for everyone.
